Martin Mazanec / INTIMATE CINEMA or the Reason Why I Don’t Enjoy Watching VIDEO ART Anymore

Archeology of a site as a remediation process of cognition of an art work. Presentation of the doctoral research led by a student of the FAMU. The project focuses on the analysis of a New York cinema building from the end of the 1920’s and its sociocultural transformations.

Martin Mazanec – has a degree in sociology and film studies from Palacký University in Olomouc. He is currently a postgraduate student at the Film and TV School of Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. His doctoral thesis focuses on the curatorship and the dramaturgy of moving images and the connected remediation processes. He has been the dramaturg of the Festival of Film Animation since 2007.

* The cycle of lectures in the summer semester of 2009/2010 will present various reflections and a variety of forms from both the theoretical and the practical points of view in the context of contemporary visual arts. The lectures are completed by seminars featuring discussions and presentations of texts that illustrate the notions introduced during the lectures.
