Tereza Stejskalová: Slavoj Žižek: In Defense of Lost Causes

Slavoj Žižek often focuses on past revolutionary upheavals (e.g. French Revolution, October Revolution in Russia, Cultural Revolution in China) as well as the subsequent terror. He claims that it is time we repeat history in a very specific sense of the term. We should not try to reproduce the events themselves; instead, we should discover and carry out their unrealized and dormant emancipatory potentials. What are these potentials? In what sense were they not realized and in what way should they be pursued?

Seminar of postgraduate students is initiative of Digital laboratory and postgraduate students of AVU in Prague. Seminar represents a platform for introduction of theses that clarify practical perspectives of art in society and social interaction and highlights some common basic philosophical and sociological concepts in the sphere of current tendencies.
